Get involved - whatever for?

There are many opportunities for you to get involved with the Whitstable Oyster Festival in ways that can be personally very fulfilling and rewarding. For sponsorship and partner opportunities go here.

As residents we each and every one of us get so much from Whitstable - Why else would we choose to live here? This is our chance to give a little back. The following are some ideas, but you may have others, so let us know.

Local Clubs, Associations, Charities and Community groups.

It is often the view of residents that the Oyster Festival is aimed towards visitors but, although the two weekends of the Festival draw thousands of visitors to the town, WOFA is dedicated to using it as a platform to enable local clubs, societies and other groups to showcase their skills in displays as well as giving residents, young and old, the chance to experience alternative hobbies and sports. This is also a great way for clubs to recruit new members.

The footfall through the town and harbour during the Festival produces a wide audience for your charity or association and a perfect promotional opportunity.

WOFA can assist with venues and the promotion of all such events, which would be included within the published programme and the official Festival website, thus giving participatory groups a unique way of helping themselves and the local community.

Individual involvement.

You can help out for as little as an hour or as long as you are enjoying yourself in some of the following areas:

Guides - Welcoming visitors and directing them.

Walk 'n Talk assistants - Helping with the movement of participants in one of these events.

Programme and leaflet distributors - Handing out the free programme and updates.

Festival Dogsbodies - Helping prepare venue areas, collecting oyster shells, tidying up etc.

Stewards - This is dependant on WOFA obtaining training facilities.

Photographers - People with a digital camera or camcorder who can help record the Festival.

Offer your services or ideas via our Contact page and we'll do our best to accommodate them.
